Bug-eyed and Blissed Out

It's been happily busy and aside from pulling an Achilles tendon things have been great. The first sweet organic tomatoes have been eaten, the first political rally is locked up and ready (except for the scones I have to bake Tuesday), I've gotten into a place that few are invited to join, the Heat Fund rides again in 2 weeks and even the Beest has been sweet and entertaining.

While exercising the question popped into mind; when does a human reach physical peak? Personally I'd say 30. What do you guys think?

The Montreal trip went down the tubes, too many issues. I really hope I can get back to a point where I can just up and take off when I want to without having to involve others.

This late Summer is lovely at last. The past couple of nights have been cool enough to use the beautiful quilt that Cam gave me. We're coming up on the anniversary of the great flood, which seems very long ago now. Labor Day is right around the corner, with Stevil's birthday and party directly after. The next Bratt "season" begins, a luge ride that will take us right into the new year.

It's all good. And as Fairuza Balk says in "Almost Famous", "It's all happening!"
Stay well, everyone!
(And Lawless- I hope hubby is better by now)x

Hey Laura,
Two in the morning, over here, in lil' ol' England and I thought it's time to get over here and leave a comment :)
Sorry about your Achilles tendon. Perhaps a few scones will take your mind off things.
I like to think I haven't reached my physical peak. I sit there on the couch and think, hey, sometime soon, I will be the world's best ever athlete!
I always take trips by myself. I get to do my own thing and it's my own schedule :) Ah, Montreal. I remember being in Montreal and they were speaking some kind of weird French!
Did you mention summer? Oh yes, I remember those three straight days when I realised the mysterious glowing orb is called the sun.
You stay well. I'm off to check my eyelids for cracks! :)

30 sounds about right, but I can say that when I look back and see the things that I did in my 40's, I am in awe. The old body and mind are not so swift anymore, but I keep on moving as fast as I can.

Sounds like you are in a mellow mood and are happy in the moment. Good for you!

I would have to say 40 was my peak of vigor tempered with experience and caution, but 30 was full of untrained energy. I don't listen to those who say 60 is the new 40; they're trying to privatize our Social Security. Best speed on tendon recovery, Austan!

The thirties sounds more or less right, though I didn't know it at the time.
I hope your achilles tendon heals quickly.

Physically my own personal best was around 27....the mind now, that is still in its infancy (or is that 'again' lol). And sorry to report laura, but NO he is not better...I really think he may be worse.

Arghh, is there EVER a 'best' time for exercise? Sorry to hear your hubby is sick, Delores, and Austan, sorry about your heel and sorry about Montreal. (For the record, Elton John was wrong - sorry is NOT the hardest word.)

:)

Physical peak... I don't know, maybe as a kid, like 8-12. Back when I could eat and run all day! Strength-wise, 20's.

Even the word 'tendon' sounds cringy to me. Feel better, you.

OW! Sorry to hear about the Achilles tendon. (Maybe you should make up a batch of Irish creme... for medicinal purposes.) I think I was in better shape in my 40s than I was in my 30s. But, hey! But I'm only in my 60s, so the best may be yet to come! (Shut up. It's MY fantasy.)

Gary! I've always loved traveling alone. It's an adventure! But, em, I don't think sitting on the couch will inprove your athletic ability. I am very happy to hear of your new venture and lovely visit to Wales. I hope we'll hear wondrous stories come from this.

Arleen, yes, even my 40s weren't too shabby, til the end. I was still tossing around 60 pound cases of meat and pounding around on cement floors. But in my 30s I could still run, which I loved and miss.

Must be the dark chocolate I'm putting in my coffee these days. :)

Thanks, Geo.! 60 is not the new 40. There is nothing new about 40. Now they're trying to screw with basic math and they wonder why kids have given up!

EC- it's true, we never know when we're at our best until we're not. :p
So far, so good with the tendon. Thank you.

Oh Lawless! At 27 I could work 12 hours and party another 6, then sleep 4 hours and do it all again! Stupefying to think I had that much energy.
Will he need to go to the hospital? Please let us know what's going on. I care.

Cathy, I find the worst time to exercise is when you don't warm up. The old body wants things done slowly, and 'I' want it over with.
Montreal waits. I'll get back there yet. ;)

Boo- I was a klutz as a kid, something in an Ace bandage all the time. Coordination didn't even set in until mid-20s LOL!

And here I am in an Ace bandage again...hmm.

Susan, that's the best idea I've heard. Who needs ice? Just give me what's poured over it!
And who's to say the best isn't yet to come? We write our own stories. Stranger things have happened...
