Oh Yeah!

Great delivery day. I wasn't expecting it til sometime during the week, but Johnnie Walker Red is here! A big box, not opened yet. I'm gonna wait til someone's here who can help me put it together. It's silly to open it when I can't assemble it. I just don't have the handstrength to tighten nuts and such anymore. All I care about is that it's here! The end of tottering on a cane is nigh! Hooray! Hooray!

And I got a surprise package from my niece Lisa, who's the family historian and genealogist. She traced one line of the family back to 1530 in Cambridgeshire, England. That's amazing, but even more amazing is that she traced a family line that's so elusive that nobody even knew who the family was beyond 3 gens back. She's gotten them back to 1751 in upstate NY! Outstanding work!

In that package were also the HS graduation pix of my greatniece, who's beautiful. I can't believe she's this old, and grown. Seems like last week she was in grade school, a little blonde girl who loved sharks. Now she's a young woman wearing a Cthulhu bracelet and planning her career. Boy do I feel old. Thanks Lisa!

So, today turned into an Oh Yeah! day. Things are looking up. Except the Beest, who won't look up and continues her impression of a creature from another planet who's never encountered Earth's gravity before. She managed to turn the catbox over and all the bits of cedar stuck to her hydrocortisoned fur. After a thorough combing that evoked much purring, she fell asleep on my bed. She's doing all the necessary things but is clearly unhappy with a cone on her head. I feel bad for putting her through it but we tried everything else. "It's not forever, just a week or so," I've told her, but she doesn't want to hear it. Ach, just let her sleep...

Not bad for the last day of Eastern Standard Time.

Hurray!! Big Red has arrived. That didn't take quite as long as you feared. It will be good to get your equilibrium back.

How do you think I feel? LOL The Cthulhu bracelet- his name is Sir Inkington III. I don't ask, just report...

Lisa, no matter what happens, I'll always be older than you. Remember, your hubby pee-ed in my face when he was a baby. :)

Hurray for Big Red. Sympathy for being made to feel your years. And the Beest is punishing you, just because she can.

EC- Ha! You're right. And thanks. It really is a drag getting old.

You're not THAT much older than us :D And if he finds out you published that little fact...LOL And, I'll have more family tree info to send as I've just gotten (like in the last 20 minutes) that particular 1751 line back another 4 generations.

Lisa- LMAO! I really didn't think about that. Holy moley that's a miracle you're pulling off! How'd you find all this?!

Make that 5 generations! LOL That's about it on the Hendricksons. Make that Schoonmaker :D 1598 in Hamburg, Germany. Ancestry.com has trees that others have done with sources- so nothing is 100% until I get documents in hand.

Schoonmaker in Hamburg? That turned into Hendrickson? How? We're German? We all thought that branch was Scots-Irish!

With the touch of Mohawk, of course. :)

One of the Schoonmaker's names was Hendrick... Hendrickson = son of Hendrick

Wow. I can't wait to see all this. The ways people got names fascinates me. I mean, the -sons and -dottirs is standard, but the first Innes, Berowald, was a Flemish water/landscape specialist and that's how he got the name (and Barony) from Malcolm the IV. Seems playing in mud goes back a long way. ;)
